Traditional Garden Walls - maintenance skills for householders

Fife Historic Buildings Trust

A highly illustrated talk by Roz Artis of the SLCT, for everyone, to better understand how to care for traditional garden walls, with Q&A.

Are you responsible for a garden boundary wall? Need a bit of help working out how best to maintain it? Wonder what is happening to cause stone decay? The Scottish Lime Centre Trust, based at Charlestown In Fife, are experts in traditional building conservation, and especially in finding the right way to care for traditional building elements, the humble but important walls, that define our traditional buildings and townscapes. SLCT Director Roz Artis will deliver this session aimed at people with some or no background in traditional building maintenance. Lots of time for questions.Through the Inverkeithing Heritage Regeneration programme, funded by Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and our partner Fife Council, Fife Historic Building Trust are delighted to bring this interactive learning opportunity to you, free!

If you email pictures of walls with problems to us, at info@fifehistoricbuildings.org.uk, we will try to use some of them in the Q&A session. Roz has generously agreed to share her expert advice and experience with attendees, after the main talk. Please also let us know if there's an aspect of maintaining traditional buildings you'd like us to cover in future zoom sessions.
