Carefully designed to increase confidence and independence these ONLINE sessions will be completely tailored to your particular child and family needs. Each one will involve learning or building on a food preparation skill such as rubbing, cutting, creaming etc.
Each session is 1 hour long. Costs are heavily subsidised by SPACE in order to make this experience accessible to as many families as possible.
As well as learning fun and important life skills, past participants have reported an overall increase in general well-being as a result of these sessions as well as specific gains in increased confidence, increased independence, reduced anxiety and an increased desire to participate in other SPACE activities.
The sessions are run in partnership with Carole Rose from the Alphabake Cookery School. As well as working with many SPACE families 1:1, Carole also runs our group online cooking sessions and has lots of experience working with neurodiverse children and young people.
“Carole was an excellent cookery coach - she was patient and kind towards my son who has sensory processing difficulties. Carole gave him real confidence to cook and achieve things independently such as peeling, chopping and handling food. He absolutely loved all her creations - and this was a real boost to his self-esteem! He had a lot of fun with the food, and this was brilliant because it helped him to understand that cooking is something to be enjoyed and can be a real stress buster!”
Sessions must be taken during this half term. Once a booking has been made, all sessions will run at a time and a date convenient to you and arranged between yourself and Carole.
Families will pay £20 + Eventbrite fees per session so a total of £80 + Eventbrite Fees for the 4 week block.
**********Only 1 booking permitted per term********
These sessions will need to be taken by Thursday 11th December, although there may be flexibilty on this at the discretion of the instructor.
