AOI Discusses continues with the first session of 2025, on balancing parenthood and creativity. Parenting and freelancing can be a rollercoaster. Balancing your time between kids, working with clients, creativity and deadlines can be tough. Her illustration practice is deeply rooted in her love of hands-on craft and the childhood joy of creating stories from cardboard, paper, and marker pens. Using bold, fluid shapes, she brings playful, expressive characters to life, infusing her work with humor, warmth, and energy—even when tackling sensitive or complex subjects.Her illustrations are rich in movement and emotion, exploring themes of interpersonal relationships and societal issues. With a particular focus on women’s health, she draws from her own experiences to depict life postpartum. He has collaborated with a range of notable clients including Nestlé, BBC and NHS, working internationally within illustrative and motion projects that have included product, character, branding, advertising, poster and mural design. Inspired by iconic video game franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Final Fantasy, Carl's vibrant and uplifting style resonates with audiences worldwide.
