A full day Easter workshop at Moregeous Mansions with expert craftswoman and willow weaver Joe Gregory. This beautiful period home in Fallowfield, South Manchester hosts many varied events, from Supper Clubs with guest chefs, to Renovation Days, to crafting days with experts. Hosts Sian Astley, TV property project manager and interior designer, and Martin, aka Mr Moregeous, will welcome you into their homely, expertly designed space, to spend the day with our expert and other craft lovers. You will learn new skills, make new friends and take home a gorgeous woven basket. You will also enjoy a delicious lunch and glass of chilled prosecco."Frame baskets are created all over the world and incorporate a weaving tradition that is much older than many modern baskets.Different materials can be used in their creation and unlike the more complicated modern baskets once a frame basket has been made the learner should be able to create more frame baskets on their own.Over this one day course you will learn to weave all the techniques you will need to create your own frame basket. You will have the opportunity to use different Willows (there are over 250 different varieties of basketry Willow alone) to create a sturdy unique basket.Joe Gregory has been weaving these baskets for many years and will be able to give you advice and tips on how to create functional and also art frame pieces if you wish and the many different materials available locally to make these baskets with.From a very simple design base there are multiple possibilities with this basketry technique and Joe will be able to show you examples in her workshop of the many different styles of basket that can be achieved using this ancient technique.Suitable for beginners and those with some weaving experience a lovely way to spend a day. Come alone and meet other crafty folk or come with a friend or two for a special day together."No prior experience needed but you must have good mobility in hands &amp; feet, &amp; be able to stand whilst working.Please wear old (non dangly) clothes, covered toe shoes (no sandals) &amp; little or no jewellry please.

Grazing Table LunchComplimentary glass of prosecco per guest.Harissa salmon, caper creme fraiche, radish, pea shoots on puff pastry (egg, milk, fish, gluten)British spring lamb &amp; bulgar wheat tabbouleh, pomegranate seeds, roasted beetroot, mint (gluten)English asparagus spears with homemade lemony hollandaise (egg, milk)Spring green salad - broccoli, olive oil massaged cale, yellow peppers - with herb marinated halloumi, cashew nuts and tahini dressing (milk, cashew nuts)Pistachio and raspberry cake (gluten, milk, egg, pistachios)Easter chocolate brownies (gluten, egg, milk)Please contact us direct on sianastley@me.com to communicate guest allergy information / dietary requirements.
