Five remarkable Chefs take a course each at the wonderful Monachyle Mhor to raise money for the Drumchapel Food Bank

Monachyle Mhor Hotel

Mhor Food For Folk is an event born out of the need for everyone to have access to decent healthy food. As a basic human need - eating can be such a connective tissue between us all and although top chefs and restranteurs can provide such wonderful lavish food they are not detatched from the understanding that we all should have access to food regardless of our background or living situation. Five well known chefs give their time to this much needed event with all proceeds going to Drumchapel Food Bank.Drumchapel Food Bank: At the moment Drumchapel Food Bank services an average of 144 families per week. A range of people use the service, from low income working families to people escaping domestic violence, people moving benefits, individuals and families seeking asylum and many other cases. As a charity Drumchapel Food Bank does not receive central or local government funding and relies solely on local community donations from businesses and individuals. Whilst other food banks in Glasgow operate one day a week, Drumchapel Food Bank operates 5 days per week, Mon to Fri and services individuals and families from across the Glasgow area. The service was founded in 2010 by Liz Atkinson through observing a need for the service in the local community. Liz studied other working models but decided that she did not want the service to be tied to a church group or other charity that might have additional motives to their charity work. The service has grown over the years to now service the wider community and individuals facing a vast range of challenges
