Cancer as a Long-Term Condition: A Course for Health and Social Care ProfessionalsLearn more about the changing story of cancer, and how you can support those living with and beyond cancer with their health and wellbeing in this one day study Day.Who is this course for?Health and Social care professionals in SURREY, SUSSEX &amp; FRIMLEY who are new to cancer: Nurses, Social Prescribers, Paramedic practitioners, AHP's, Care coordinators and HCA's are all welcome. This remarkable achievement means that more people are living with and beyond cancer than ever before—an estimated 101,000 individuals in Surrey and Sussex alone. And due to the continued improvements in treatment and earlier diagnosis, this number is projected to grow to 168,600 by 2030.While these statistics are encouraging, they highlight an important challenge: many people living with and beyond cancer will face significant long-term impacts on their physical health, mental well-being, social circumstances, financial stability, and professional lives among other areas. Despite completing treatment, patients often report feeling unsupported in navigating these longer-term consequences.With such high numbers of people living with the long term effects of cancer in our community, it has never been more important for health and social care professionals to improve their knowledge of how to better support those living with and far beyond their cancer diagnosis.This one day, in person study day aims to do just that, equipping health and social care professionals with the knowledge and confidence to support patients living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis. It offers a comprehensive understanding of contemporary cancer care and emphasises how skills already used for other long-term conditions can be effectively transferred to support cancer care.By attending, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your role, the roles of others within the multidisciplinary team, and local services.Open to all professionals interested in cancer care, the course aligns with ACCEND levels and supports those at supportive, assistive, pre-registration, and registration stages."Really enjoyable, great for networking and helping me signpost my patients"“I have really enjoyed the course, the information provided, the support given, meeting colleagues from both primary and secondary care and feeling really supported and encouraged throughout.
