Sands Films is a production space and recording studio.The Music Room concerts are delivered to a small inperson audience and live, online. We never charge for delivering art and culture:  our events are free to access to all. However, we do rely on a certain amount of donation so we can pay technicians and musicians. Sands Films is a London Living wages employer and we pride ourselves to be a sustainable business. The voluntary support of our audience is essential.

THE PRIEST&#x27;S TALE is an adaptation by actor/playwright Michael Mears of one of the survivor’s accounts from John Hersey’s classic book HIROSHIMA (published by Penguin). Father Wilhelm was a German Jesuit priest living in Hiroshima at the time of the first atomic bombing. His account is a compelling and clear-eyed description of his experiences that day and in the subsequent months and years – told with compassion and warmth.At 7.30pm on August 6th, the 75th anniversary of the Hiroshima bomb, Michael Mears will perform this story with live violin accompaniment by Chihiro Ono. (Duration approx. 50 mins.) Directorial supervision is by Rosamunde Hutt and the event is co-hosted with the Peace and Justice Centre, Edinburgh ahead of the 2021 launch of its initiative Peace Cranes – a touring contemporary arts exhibition about the cultural legacy of Hiroshima.
