Cycle to the cinema to watch inspiring films on biking, climbing, running and other adventurous sports.Cycle To The Cinema began as a collaboration between The National Trust at Longshaw Estate in the Peak District and nearby Heason Events. The concept is elementary - we put on cinema based events, you cycle to them.The cinema where it all started is the lovely Moorland Discovery Centre in the woods at Longshaw Estate very close to the Fox House Pub, some 5 miles outside of Sheffield on the border between Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The wooden building, insulated with sheep's wool in the walls, is cosy, pretty, and kitted out with a decent sound system, projector and screen. It seats around 50 people.Since it's beginnings in 2013 Cycle To The Cinema hs grown to other venues in the area, always encouraging people to get on their bikes.The evenings usually start at 8pm giving you time to grab a bite to eat after work and cycle to the cinema. You will normally be able to order tea/coffee and cake when booking your tickets so don't worry about low blood-sugar. Things will wrap up between 9.30pm and 10pm giving you time to freewheel home and jump in the shower before bed....et voila - exercise, entertainment and a social, all in the same evening.In case you are wondering, yes we will allow you in if you don't come by bike, but we hope you'll enter into the spirit of things.

Welcome to our third outdoor &quot;silent&quot; film screening. By silent, we mean using headphones for the broadcasting of the soundtrack, to avoid disturbing the local area. The Film: The Bikes of WrathFive friends attempt to cycle from Oklahoma to California in honour of the Dust Bowl migration of the 1930s, depicted in John Steinbeck&#x27;s 1939 book, The Grapes of Wrath.In 2015, 5 friends from Australia set out to bike from Oklahoma to California the same route the families traveled in John Steinbeck&#x27;s The Grapes of Wrath. The friends did this on a budget of just $420 which is the equivalent to the $18 each family had on average that made the same trek during the dust bowl. They were overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in the states they biked through which are known as Red States. During the edited process of the documentary they realised this trek was more about the people they met than the actual trek.Released: 2019Director: Cameron Ford &amp; Charlie TurnbullCertification: 12AThe Event DetailsThe film will start at approximately 20:30 and last for around 80 minutes, we may play a few short films (approx. 10mins) before this screening. This is our first genuine &quot;Cycle to the Cinema&quot; at this new venue in the Hope Valley. We&#x27;re screening this film at the Hope Valley Garden Centre, where we screened the previous drive in cinema, but using a different location at the Garden Centre that we feel is more appropriate to the Cycle to the Cinema needs.Due to this being a new location and on-going requirements for social distancing, we&#x27;re going to restrict the number of tickets on sale for this event to 40. Equally, as we find our feet at new outdoor screenings, we ask attendees to BRING THEIR OWN SEATING (whether blankets, cushions or folding camp chairs). We&#x27;re working to reinvest income from these events into further equipment and facilities as we screen more films and will endeavour to continue to improve the screening experience event by event. We hope to have some seating arranged for this event, but please do not rely on this.We&#x27;re going to be using radio transmission sound technology to broadcast the soundtrack to your vehicle. You will be handed a sterilised receiver on arrival at the venue. This can be used with regular headphones (NOT Apple lightening connector) and/or a headphone splitter to allow multiple headphones to be connected to a single unit. We will supply the receiver and can supply a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. We will NOT supply headphones nor a headphone splitter, these will need to be brought to the event by yourselves.We&#x27;ll have Sunshine Pizza in attendance again, we&#x27;ll send out a separate email with details relating to this shortly to those that have purchased tickets.
