These events are organised by the London Region of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) which organises events primarily for the London Members of the RPS but events are open to all whether RPS Members or not and whether in London or not.

London Midweek Explorers are back! Today we invite you to visit Crystal Palace Park, a 200 acre (80 hectares) English Heritage Grade II registered park which was once home to Sir Joseph Paxton&#x27;s Crystal Palace - the structure that was adapted from the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, 1851.A Victorian pleasure ground in its day, it is LB Bromley&#x27;s largest park with a rich history: the site was desigdned to impress, educate, entertainand inspire and was an international attraction. Today and park consists of the open site of the former Crystal Palace, the Grand Terraces and central axis, statues of prehistoric monsters, open parkland and pathways, sport and recreation facilities etc.The Park now has many mature trees and gardens and is thought to be at it&#x27;s best in Autumn.Attached is<a href="http://crystalpalacepark.org.uk/crystal-palace-park-leaflet.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> a link here</a> showing a map of the Park and more information.Meeting PointWe will meet at the Cafe just inside the Penge West gate to the Park. I understand the cafe is open for take-aways only but has plenty of seating outside: we will find separate tables and you will find us there.Getting thereFor those travelling by train, the recommended station is Penge West, which is served by direct trains from London Bridge and is just five minutes walk from the Park. It is also feasible to travel to Penge East, which is a ten minute walk away. There is Car Parking for those who wish at the Penge West Gate and many buses.Our plan is to travel back from Crystal Palace at the end of our walk.To sign up:Sign up for the event by following the link above. There will be a maximum of eight photographers and two volunteer leaders.Special Information:The walk volunteer leaders will be following safe practices in line with social distancing guidance and will require participants to do the same. In addition to the usual reminders about wearing sensible shoes and being prepared for the weather (be it hot or cold, wet or dry!), don&#x27;t forget to bring a drink to keep you hydrated. Please make yourself aware of Government regulations current at the time, in particular remember face coverings (for public transport and any time spent in shops, stores or enclosed spaces) and hand sanitisers. Also most retailers are no longer accepting cash, so make sure you have a contactless payment card with you.Should government advice change and local lockdowns occur, for example, causing us to cancel the event, we will contact you as soon as we can. However, please keep alert for any potential changes and contact us if you have doubts as to whether the walk will run as planned, or not.Restricted numbers due to Coronavirus.Pre-registration is ESSENTIAL.There is a Waiting List and we will notify you should spaces become available.
