An online Prickly Pear Showtime to celebrate the launch of "Demons To Champions" by Gary Coulton!

Welcome to our latest edition of Prickly Pear Showtime. This month we have the amazing honour of celebrating the launch of "Demons To Champions: How I fell in love with my neurodivergent maverick mind", the memoir of Gary Coulton. Gary will be sharing from the book, which we know will resonate with many of us. We also have guest reader Charlotte Faulconbridge with us, sharing excerpts from her memoir "Too High to Function". This is a fantastic complement to Gary's lived experience. We know you're in for a fascinating evening. If you haven't already read their books, you'll be itching to by the end. As if that wasn't enough, we also have an open mic section. THEME: "dialogue" and/or "narrative" poetry/micro-fiction. Doors will open 15 mins early at 6.45pm. GARY COULTON:Dr Gary Coulton is a Surrey-based writer. He was a scientist for 34 years, then ran an executive coaching business, “retiring” to write in 2020. He describes himself as, “A curious work in progress”, identifying as neurodivergent at age sixty-five. Gary was, “The weird kid who didn’t know when to shut up, telling shaggy dog stories from five years old. In his memoir Demons to Champions, Gary traces his transformative experience from early disappointments, battles with suicidal intent, and deep social anxiety to the fulfilling and purposeful life he leads today. A testament of resilience against an uncertain world as well as a heartfelt invitation to other neurodivergent minds to celebrate their unique selves. He lives with Mel his wife, daughter Phoebe and three cats. He’s obsessed with marathon kayaking which he calls his “Metaphor for life”. CHARLOTTE FAULCONBRIDGE:Charlotte Faulconbridge is an autistic and chronically ill prize-winning poet, published author, musician and TEDx performer. Her book, Too High to Function, which tells the story of her life on the autistic spectrum has sold in over 20 countries, on every continent, and reached number one in the Amazon bestseller charts. She is an ambassador for the mental health charity MIND and was a finalist in the BBC Make A Difference Awards 2024.
