Cycle to the cinema to watch inspiring films on biking, climbing, running and other adventurous sports.Cycle To The Cinema began as a collaboration between The National Trust at Longshaw Estate in the Peak District and nearby Heason Events. The concept is elementary - we put on cinema based events, you cycle to them.The cinema where it all started is the lovely Moorland Discovery Centre in the woods at Longshaw Estate very close to the Fox House Pub, some 5 miles outside of Sheffield on the border between Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The wooden building, insulated with sheep's wool in the walls, is cosy, pretty, and kitted out with a decent sound system, projector and screen. It seats around 50 people.Since it's beginnings in 2013 Cycle To The Cinema hs grown to other venues in the area, always encouraging people to get on their bikes.The evenings usually start at 8pm giving you time to grab a bite to eat after work and cycle to the cinema. You will normally be able to order tea/coffee and cake when booking your tickets so don't worry about low blood-sugar. Things will wrap up between 9.30pm and 10pm giving you time to freewheel home and jump in the shower before bed....et voila - exercise, entertainment and a social, all in the same evening.In case you are wondering, yes we will allow you in if you don't come by bike, but we hope you'll enter into the spirit of things.

Welcome to our third outdoor "silent" film screening. By silent, we mean using headphones and car stereos for the broadcasting of the soundtrack, to avoid disturbing the local area. The Film: 127 Hours127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he can be rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers, family, and the two hikers he met before his accident. You can arrive any time from 18.15Whilst this is a Drive In event we are keen for people to come by bike to this screening, however cyclists would need to bring their own folding chairs; we will ensure that any that do cycle get good positions and unrestricted views. We're running a cycle/walk ONLY event the following night, screening Blood Road at the same venue, but at a slightly different location at the Garden Centre.Each car will have its own parking space, that will allow for the required social distancing space between the edges of each vehicle, allowing the occupants to exit the vehicle if needed. The same spacing will be applied to anyone turning up on a cycle.We're going to be using radio transmission sound technology to broadcast the soundtrack to your vehicle. You will be handed a sterilised audio receiver on arrival at the venue through your car window or to hand if you cycle. This can be plugged into your car stereo via an AUX cable with a 3.5mm (standard headphone socket) or can be used with regular headphones (NOT Apple lightening connector) and/or a headphone splitter to allow multiple headphones to be connected to a single unit. Alternatively it could be plugged into a portable speaker (in your vehicle).We will supply the receiver and can supply a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. We will NOT supply speaker, headphones nor a headphone splitter, these will need to be brought to the event by yourselves.Update re the government's latest rules re a maxium of six people gathering socially: our interpretation of this is that if pubs and restaurants can remain open whilst ensuring that groups are 6 or fewer, then logically so can cinemas and film events. We will ensure we follow safety hygiene measures to enforce this.We'll have Sunshine Pizza in attendance again, you will be able to order on the night. They will be on site from 18.30.
