Benjamin Daltonis a PhD candidate in French at King’s College London. His thesis maps conceptions and articulations of ‘plasticity’ across contemporary French thought, literature and film. Focusing in particular on the philosophy of Catherine Malabou, Benjamin’s thesis explores literary and cinematographic depictions of ‘plastic’ bodies, brains and worlds which resonate with Malabou’s concept or suggest different forms of plasticity. Benjamin has forthcoming publications which focus on plasticity and science in the novels of Marie Darrieussecq, ‘queer plasticity’ in the films of Alain Guiraudie, and an interview with Malabou which is forthcoming inParagraphin July 2019.
