The Academy at Harmless

Harmless has been commissioned to deliver a range of mental health, suicide prevention, self harm and suicide bereavement courses.

<h3>Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and NHS Nottingham &amp; Nottinghamshire ICB have commissioned Harmless to deliver a range of Mental Health Awareness, Self Harm Awareness, Suicide Prevention and Suicide Bereavement courses.</h3> This training is FREE to people working or volunteering in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with people of all ages in the following sectors: <ul><li>Community and voluntary sector organisations / community champions who work with those at risk of suicide and self harm</li><li>Children’s Social Services / Early Help Family Services</li><li>Organisations working with those who are financially vulnerable (e.g. advice services, debt agencies, food banks, libraries)</li><li>Adult Social Care</li><li>Primary Care</li><li>First Responders (e.g. police, fire service, paramedics)</li><li>Housing / Homelessness sector</li><li>Social Prescribers / Community Workers</li><li>Public Health Commissioned Services</li><li>Those working with Children and Young People (Looked after children, Social Workers, Residential Workers, Youth Workers, Youth Justice colleagues, Third sector groups working with CYP such as Guides/Scout Leaders, Boys/Girls Brigade Leaders, Sea Scout Leaders)</li></ul> We are now also welcoming individuals from justice services, private sector organisations, and faith/community groups to join our evidence-based training – because every touchpoint can be a lifeline. You must be working/volunteering for an organisation/group who are based in Nottingham &amp; Nottinghamshire, including Bassetlaw to qualify for a funded place and from one of the above roles/sectors. For more information or advice on the courses being delivered please speak to a member of The Academy at Harmless team: training@harmless.org.uk <h3>Learning outcomes:</h3><ul><li>Develop an understanding of mental health, mental ill health and mental wellbeing (including the MH continuum).</li><li>Identify protective and risk factors that can influence mental health</li><li>Spot the signs and symptoms of poor mental health (including stress and burnout)</li><li>Develop skill and confidence in having conversations about mental health and wellbeing</li><li>Understand ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) for young people and adults as well as other trauma and its impact on mental health Enhance effective responses to a range of different situations, including acute distress</li><li>Enhance confidence, working practice, knowledge and skills</li><li>Understand the direct and wider impacts of mental health conditions</li><li>Develop skills to respond to and support someone with mental ill health including an understanding of local services and how to support/facilitate access for individuals</li><li>Understand the relationship between self harm, mental health and suicide</li></ul> Our online training is delivered via MS TeamsOnce registered, you will receive an email with login details for the sessionWe will provide all delegates with frequent breaks during the session to ensure that screen fatigue is kept to a minimum

Self-CareThe topics raised in the training delivery can be emotionally evocative. It is strongly advised that delegates should be aware of personal impact that training in suicide can have and should seek the appropriate reassurance, support and guidance from the Trainer delivering the session if they become distressed or affected by any of the topics raised. As an organisation, we encourage that all delegates practice self-care during their time on the course, ensuring they take adequate breaks and manage their own self-disclosure. All trainers have direct contact with a clinical team should needs arise to implement additional support.CancellationsIf the delegate/organisation cancels a training place:• All cancellations must be confirmed via email to training@harmless.org.uk at the earliest opportunity• If a delegate is unable to attend the training, Harmless will allow a replacement to take their place if we are notified about any changes at least 48 hours before the training is due to take place. Replacement delegates will be required to complete a separate training registration form before we can accept them on the course• While this training is free, any late cancellations or non-attendance may incur a fee to be paid by the organisation• If Harmless is forced to cancel the training due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances:• Harmless will endeavour to cancel the training, if necessary, at the earliest opportunity• Harmless cannot accept responsibility for any losses incurred by late cancellationData ProtectionAt Harmless CIC, we’re committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
