Gender Awareness Training: Going Further

Andro and Eve are a queer arts organisation who collaborate with LGBTQ+ artists to provide accessible programmes of creative opportunities and events in South Yorkshire. They programme and produce arts and culture that explores queer stories, focusing on voices that are otherwise marginalised, to reflect and celebrate the diversity that exists within the LGBTQIA community.Andro and Eve are also facilitators of Gender Awareness training, working with organisations to develop understanding around equity for trans and non-binary people. Since 2021 they have worked with businesses, charities, educational establishments and public bodies across the UK delivering Gender Awareness training to hundreds of people.

Andro & Eve's Gender Awareness Training is designed for individuals and organisations who want to build more equitable and inclusive policies and practices to support trans, non-binary and gender minoritised clients and customers.

This online interactive session is designed to deepen knowledge, share leading research and best practice, supporting individuals, freelancers, and organisations who want to build more equitable and inclusive policies and practices for trans, non-binary and gender minoritised clients, customers and service users.This session is aimed at those who have already undertaken any of our <a href="https://androandeve.com/gender-awareness-training/" title="https://androandeve.com/gender-awareness-training/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gender Awareness Training </a>sessions or who have already undertaken any LGBTQ+ Awareness Training in the last two years.This session is designed to deepen participants’ knowledge, further increasing the confidence of participants to support transgender, non-binary and gender minoritised people in professional and social situations.This session covers;<ul><li>Context. What is the current evidence base around sex and gender?</li><li>Terminology. Further definitions to expand participants’ awareness.</li><li>Key Issues. What are the main issues around trans inclusion today?</li><li>Best practice. Looking at case studies around trans inclusion and their impact on health and wellbeing.</li><li>Sharing experiences. Stories help us make sense of the world. We use discussions and practical exercises to help develop understanding.</li></ul>Topics covered include language and terminology around sex and gender, intersectionality, the importance of trans stories, and key issues such as gender affirming surgery for adults, gender affirming care for young people and access to sports and gender separated spaces.Learning Outcomes - You will;<ul><li>Develop your knowledge of gender and sex difference and how these connect to the coloniality of gender.</li><li>Expand your understanding of some of the most pressing issues in today’s conversation about trans and non-binary peoples’ rights.</li><li>Increase your confidence in supporting trans and non-binary people in professional and social situations.</li></ul>Each participant will be given their own resource sheet with content covered in the session along with further advice and resources.Who is the training for?This training is designed for those who have already undertaken any of our <a href="https://androandeve.com/gender-awareness-training/" title="https://androandeve.com/gender-awareness-training/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gender Awareness Training </a>sessions or who have already undertaken any LGBTQ+ Awareness Training in the last two years.It is suitable for individuals, freelancers, employees, managers, and HR professionals who want to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable workplace and society.Why this training:In the UK, hard won LGBTQ+ rights are being pushed back against. Creating an inclusive workplace is an important way to ensure these rights are protected in our society. We believe that having access to the most up to date information and knowing how to counter misinformation and stereotypes is an important way to support individuals and organisations to build more inclusive practices and spaces. It’s also good for business. Research shows that diverse and inclusive workplaces are <a href="https://www.enterpriseresearch.ac.uk/publications/do-more-inclusive-workplaces-lead-to-more-innovation-evidence-from-survey-data-for-firms-in-england/" title="https://www.enterpriseresearch.ac.uk/publications/do-more-inclusive-workplaces-lead-to-more-innovation-evidence-from-survey-data-for-firms-in-england/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">more innovative</a>, productive, and have higher levels of employee morale.As one past participant said‘Andro and Eve’s training responded to different levels of confidence across the cohort and an intersectional approach which held an awareness of how oppressive systems interact with each other. The session was held with care and Finn’s knowledge and expertise around gender awareness was invaluable.The session is 2.5 hours long with one comfort break built in. Places are limited in order to facilitate meaningful group discussions. It is best accessed on a laptop or desktop computer.This training is delivered by Andro and Eve's Artistic Director Finn Warman who has 18 years experience leading CPD sessions and training for professionals, artists, and higher education students.Access: This session takes place online via Zoom.
