Working across the world, with global partners, Rotary has led the fight to rid the world of polio. Join us on our polio journey, sit back in the comfort of your home and enjoy a free online celebration of the truly amazing and lifesaving achievements so far with short stories from young and not so young, snapshots of polio activities, tributes, music and lots more. Our hosts for the evening are TV presenter and author Konnie Huq, and Paralympian Anne Wafula Strike MBE, who is a polio survivor. Guests live on the night include film producer Jonathan Cavendish, who created the polio movie &quot;Breathe&quot; and Michel Zaffran, the Director of Polio Eradication at the World Health Organisation. Host BioKonnie Huq - Broadcaster and Rotary Purple4Polio Ambassador In 2009 Konnie, a keen supporter of Rotary went to India, along some of our own Rotarians, to make a public awareness and schools’ educational film about the Rotary End Polio Now campaign. 67 million children under the age of five were vaccinated against polio in just two days. Konnie Huq is best known for presenting Blue Peter for ten years until 2007.Anne Wafula Strike MBE - Paralympian, Author, Sporting Ambassador and polio survivorAnne contracted polio at the age of two growing up in Kenya and overcame many struggles to get an education, go to university and become a first-class teacher. She subsequently became a British Paralympian with a distinguished career in wheelchair racing and was awarded an MBE in recognition for her work as a disabled athlete and for involvement in charity work for people with disabilities. She is a non-executive director on the board of UK Athletics and the British Paralympic Association. Anne is also a Rotary Purple4Polio Ambassador.
