<h2>Welcome to the 2025 PSPA Neuro-Orthoptics in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) event!</h2><p><br></p><p>The UK charity, PSPA, is hosting a free online masterclass on 25 March 2025 to help ophthalmic professionals understand Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and how it affects the eyes.</p><p>PSP is a rare neurological condition that significantly affects various ophthalmic functions. Despite eye changes beginning early in PSP progression, 60% of people are still initially misdiagnosed, with an accurate diagnosis on average taking three years to achieve.</p><p>To aid early diagnosis and access to appropriate care, PSPA has developed a set of Eye Red Flags to help ophthalmic professionals spot the early ocular changes in PSP and recommend a neurology referral.</p><p><br></p><h3><strong><strong>Speaker:</strong></strong></h3><h3><strong><strong>Dominic Burdon, Advance Orthoptist, Plymouth Ocular Motility Unit</strong></strong></h3><p><br></p><h4>Attending this free masterclass will help you to:</h4><ol><li>Gain an understanding of general and ocular features of PSP.</li><li>Recognise the value of a Parkinson's Plus MDT approach, to aid earlier suspected diagnosis of PSP.</li><li>Apply knowledge of neuroanatomy to understand the pathogenesis of ocular signs in PSP.</li><li>Examine and evaluate optical management for PSP.</li></ol><p><br></p><p>If you have any questions regarding this event or need further information, please email carol.amirghiasvand@pspassociation.org.uk</p>
