What is Basil's Cyber Marathon?

It is a project launched by Basil Manoussos, an Expert Witness in Digital Forensics & Cybercrime, as part of Cyber Scotland Week 2024. It is a group of 24 online events over a 24-hour period. A real 24-hour Marathon.

What is so special about this event?

This endeavour would not work if it was not for a group of very special guests and supporters. The unique expertise and insight each one brings, allows an event open to anyone around the country and the world, to get access to people they would not normally get (at least not in one place!)

Do I have to pay?

Accepted Answer

No, the event is free to attend. You will need to have access to ZOOM (make sure it is not blocked if you use your employer's device).

How can I help?

If you want to support this FREE event, there are two things you can do: First you can promote it to your own network and encourage others to join. The second is that you can donate to the year's charity we support. This year it will be the Scottish SPCA. A link to the fundraiser will be provided.

Do you provide technical support if I have an issue connecting on the day?

No. There is no availability for someone to deal with that during the event. It is your responsibility to check your spam folders to get all your emails from us and Eventbrite and to try the Zoom link before the event.

Are you associated with any Government agencies?

Accepted Answer

No, we are not associated with any government agencies and we do not receive any support from any. We are however open to speakers from government agencies with relevant and interesting stories, as we are an open forum.

Who owns and runs the Cyber Marathon?

The project is the creation of Basil Manoussos and is supported by Strathclyde Forensics Ltd, Basil's private Digital Forensics consultancy. The Marathon is run by Basil and a list of hand-selected special guests, all experts in their respective fields.

How is the Cyber Marathon delivered?

The Cyber Marathon is a 100% ONLINE EVENT. It is delivered via ZOOM.

Question 9

What if I do not have Zoom or I have connection problems?

Accepted Answer

If you have no access to Zoom, please ensure you install it for free (for best performance). If you are working from a government-issued laptop, you may experience access issues.  Please ensure you have checked your connectivity before the event as we cannot help you during the Cyber Marathon.
