G&T with Dr Cate Pemble, University of Stirling, on "Connecting Research with the Community: Sometimes you haven't the foggiest"

We are pleased to announce our next G&amp;T will take place online on Thursday 27th February, 16:00-17:30 (GMT). We have invited Cate Pemble to give us an informal talk about their work navigating the practical and ethical considerations on high-profile research projects. Cate Pemble (she/they) is a social scientist and Research Fellow at the University of Stirling, with an interdisciplinary background in sociology, psychology, and disability studies. Her work focuses on the intersection of social structures, physical spaces, and interpersonal relationships, highlighting the importance of individual action in creating and maintaining inclusive neighbourhoods and communities.In their presentation, Cate explores the practical and ethical considerations involved in developing high-profile research projects. Drawing on experiences with the Designing Homes for Healthy Cognitive Ageing project, funded by the Healthy Ageing Challenge, and her current work on the Changing Intergenerational Relationships regional case study, Cate offers an honest reflection on the challenges of creating, running, and sharing research that prioritises community voices. Alongside these insights, Cate will also share her recipe for the fanciest of warm drinks—the London Fog.G&amp;Ts are an open forum where you can meet up informally with other BSG ERA members and early career researchers. We support each other with short presentations on gerontological theory and research topics, designed to be accessible to “accidental gerontologists”. We aim to provide an open space to chat, ask questions and connect. If you have attended a G&amp;T before, you will know that we also share a virtual drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) together. Cate's drink of choice is a London Fog, to make this you'll need:<ul><li>1 tablespoon Earl Grey black tea loose leaf (or 2 tea bags)</li><li>3/4 cup boiling water</li><li>1/3 cup milk</li><li>1 teaspoon sweetener of choice ie. sugar, maple syrup, honey</li><li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract</li></ul>
