What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Please bring water, warm layers and a warm coat for outside. You will get hot when we dance so layers are a sensible idea. Bring a natural offering for our altar and and a log for the fire as a symbol of release.  Musical instruments for around the fire.

Question 2

Why are you using headsets for this event?

Accepted Answer

We endeavour to be respectful of other Retreat users and guests. The Retreat hosts various events simultaneously, so we are using 'silent revolution' headsets, and not our loud PA system, at this venue. Dancers are able to choose to move inside the studio or on the lawn outside (weather dependent).

Question 3

How many events is SunFire offering?

Accepted Answer

We are offering seven out of the eight Celtic Turning of The Wheel sabbats at The Retreat, namely Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Lughnasadh, Mabon, Samhain and Yule. Each of the eight sabbats on the Wheel carries deep significance, marking the transitions between seasons and reflecting the cycle of life.

Question 4

What should I bring for the fire ceremony?

Accepted Answer

You may choose to bring something significant or a log that represents something that you would like to release to the fire. If so called, you can recite a poem or sing a song. Dress warmly. Bring a Winter coat.

Question 5

What if it rains?

Accepted Answer

We will still have our meditation, conscious dance and ceremony indoors in the Centre Studio at The Retreat.  In the event of adverse weather, our fire will need to be cancelled. We will remain in the Centre Studio for our ceremony, and recite poetry, sing songs, chant and socialise after our dance.

Question 6

Can I buy a warm beverage at the venue?

Accepted Answer

Colin Nash Restaurant offer a tea and coffee station at the Retreat. You will need to pre-purchase your tea and coffee. This is self-service only for those who have pre-ordered a beverage.
