The webinars are structured in two halves, with a presentation for the first half.  From the outset these webinars invite interactive discussions with network members.  For example, speakers may provide pointers for discussions by posting specific questions to the audience, explore possibilities for future pilot studies, or ask specialists in other areas to give feedback on particular aspects of their work.  The second half (30 mins) then opens the floor for discussion.

TitleDigitally phenotyping neurodevelopment through non-specialistsOverview A diagnosis of autism or other neurodevelopmental conditions typically depends on clinical assessments by highly trained professionals. This high resource demand poses a challenge in low resource settings. A gap in detecting neurodevelopmental conditions can often result in a gap in providing the appropriate support. Digitally mediated assessment of neurodevelopmental features by non-specialists provides a potential avenue to address this gap. I will discuss some of our efforts in this direction, through the development of the START and STREAM digital platforms. Both of these phenotyping platforms contain a variety of tasks to capture elements of motor function, and social and sensory preference in young children outside lab settings. He holds a visiting professorship at Ashoka University, India and is principal research advisor to the India Autism Center. His lab studies human social cognitive processes and individual differences therein, using neuroscience and behavioural techniques. In parallel, his lab works on developing scalable tools that can be used in field settings for neurodevelopmental assessments.Prof Chakrabarti did his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at St Stephen’s College, Delhi. He then read Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge. He continued at Cambridge for a PhD at the Autism Research Centre, Cambridge. Following his PhD, he was awarded the Charles and Katharine Darwin Research Fellowship at Darwin College, Cambridge. He moved to the University of Reading in 2009 to set up his own group, where his research has been supported by multiple research grants from the Medical Research Council UK, and most recently from the European Research Council. He was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Psychology in 2015. He has published over 120 research papers. Lab website:www.bhismalab.org
