Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside OAPF webinar – Vision and Principles presentation and discussion

The Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside area is on an exciting journey. At the heart of the Thames Gateway, this area holds huge promise for developing jobs, homes and amenities for local communities while becoming a major centre for enterprise in the London economy. It is vital that local people sit at the heart of these plans, to ensure a balance of future development with community needs, while celebrating local heritage.

The Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF) is a strategic framework that plans for future development of the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside Opportunity Area (RD+BR OA). This includes new homes, jobs, transport, infrastructure, and social and community uses.

Back in 2019 when this project first started, we spent the months of June to October speaking with and listening to local people and stakeholders around the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside. Through pop-up events, community sessions, one-to-one meetings, youth sessions and our website, we engaged with over 1,700 people. This helped us to understand the complex challenges and opportunities and became the basis for the draft Vision and Principles that we are now looking to share and discuss with as many people as we can. Feedback over the next few weeks will help shape the development of a consultation draft OAPF, which will be published in 2021.

Over the coming weeks we would love to hear your thoughts on the Vision and Principles, which present some initial overarching ideas for the future of the OA. These ideas are split into four themes, that look to ensure the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside Opportunity Area becomes:

-	A Lively, Healthy place

-	A Connected, Resilient place

-	AN Enabled, Innovate place

-	AN Empowered, Diverse place

Please join us online to discuss these themes and ideas in more detail with the team. The event will include a short presentation from the team, followed by discussions around the four themes above.
