We’re a home for Chelmsford’s Creative Community—to connect, collaborate, seek support and inspiration. Since 2017 Ignite Chelmsford has been connecting people from all backgrounds, perspectives, sectors, and organisations to give our city a shared voice and a strong creative community. We believe creativity thrives in a warm, open, and encouraging environment where everybody is welcome. We are passionate about helping Chelmsford realise its ambition as a city of creativity and innovation. If you work, volunteer, or study in the creative and cultural industries – or are simply interested in supporting creativity and culture in Chelmsford we would love you to join.

Every second Thursday of the month, we host our Ignite Socials. The evenings offer the chance to hear inspiring talks on a range of fascinating topics.

Every 2nd Thursday of the month Ignite holds an in person get together. A relaxed environment to meet people in Chelmsford, have a friendly chat and hear talks on inspiring creative &amp; cultural topics. Our bar serves local beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.We are often treated to a short performance or taster from speakers - recently we have had a cello performance, beer tasting, poetry reading and storytelling.No prior knowledge of the topics is needed, and everyone is welcome! The exhibition is the result of conversations with people living with dementia and their companions about works of art in the Museum’s collection.The social will be held at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/artistsatthemeadows/" title="https://www.instagram.com/artistsatthemeadows/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Artists at the Meadows</a>, with a wealth of brilliant local work on display, so you will also have the chance to practice slow looking with others on the night.SpeakersThe evening will be hosted by Museum of Chelmsford Curator Claire Willetts. <ul><li>Catherine Chastney: Catherine will be talking about the Shifting Perspectives exhibition, and her work with <a href="https://ipicturethis.org.uk/home" title="https://ipicturethis.org.uk/home" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">I Picture This</a>, which brings reproductions of artworks into homes, care settings and community groups, to explore and discuss art in a relaxed, engaging and informal way. 'I help people to look at art closely; to ask questions, form ideas, and enjoy exploring. In art there are no wrong answers, just opportunities for conversation and connection.'</li></ul> <ul><li>Dr. Aleksandra (Sasha) Igdalova: <a href="https://www.aleksandraigdalova.com" title="https://www.aleksandraigdalova.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr. Igdalova </a>studies how different ways of looking at art influence our experience and what can be done to make that engagement more meaningful and beneficial.
