Join us for the PROTO Masterclasses, as part of the <a href="https://futureeverything.org/portfolio/entry/proto/" title="https://futureeverything.org/portfolio/entry/proto/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">PROTO</a> creative development programme for artists in the North. Taking place in February and March 2025, the PROTO Masterclasses are a series of expert-led online sessions designed to provide UK artists based in the North with a unique opportunity to engage with and learn from a diverse range of international artists, cultural leaders, and creative professionals. PROTO Masterclass: An introduction to Online Game CreationThere's a long history of people making machines that can tell fortunes or predict the future. From Magic 8 balls to indie games like Wishfishing, it's fertile ground for experiencing the mystery of technology and providing a space for fun and reflection. And now we're going to join in! In this masterclass, we'll explore the history and design of these machines, and then we'll make one ourselves using <a href="https://downpour.games" title="https://downpour.games" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Downpour</a>, an approachable game creation tool recently launched by V. Before that, she was the creator of Cheap Bots Done Quick, a website that made it easy to make little Twitter bots on your computer. She's also worked as a game designer and developer on titles like Beasts of Balance and Mutazione, and as a curator with Now Play This and Wild Rumpus.
