 The largest gathering of school and business leaders in Cambridge, coming together to find solutions and share what works.

Every year we bring school and business leaders together to tackle the big questions: · How do we align what schools are expected to teach and the skills employers value? · How can we help young people overcome barriers to employment? · How can we achieve positive destinations for all students and generate the talent local companies need? Young people have been hit hard by COVID-19. The economy is in recession and the labour market in many areas has stalled. Young workers have been disproportionately affected while in schools the attainment gap has widened between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. The economic legacy of COVID-19 is likely to result in more pupils experiencing poverty and the challenging family circumstances that create educational disadvantage. At our conference we will explore how schools, business leaders and Form the Future can work together to: · equip students with the necessary skills for the changing world of work· motivate and guide students towards opportunities ...and ultimately · prevent a lost generation. Speakers will include: <ul><li>Prof. Anna Vignoles CBE FBA, Professor of Education and Fellow of Jesus College, University of Cambridge</li><li>Anthony Browne MP for South Cambridgeshire </li><li>Oli de Botton, Executive headteacher of School 21</li><li>Cllr. Neil Gough from the Greater Cambridge Partnership</li><li>Jane Paterson-Todd, CEO of Cambridge Ahead</li><li>Alex Hughes from the Shifties</li><li>Naily Makangu from Athena Leaders</li></ul>and more.Working with all our partners, we hope to generate ideas and commitment to the idea that the pandemic can drive innovation about how employers, schools and students interact not just now but for the future. Our work helps to upskill Cambridge, future-proof employment in the area and improve social mobility. We hope you can join us for a thought provoking couple of hours with representatives from schools, business and government. With the attainment gap widening and the prospect of economic scarring for school and college leavers, this will be a crucial and timely discussion for Cambridge.
