Why do I need to purchase a ticket?

Purchasing a ticket helps us anticipate numbers, but it also helps to cover the fee for booking the hall at the Shrine for our talk/base and, more importantly, the entry fee to the abbey grounds to visit the original pilgrimage site.

Can I bring a group of men?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that would be fantastic. Your sons, brothers, friends, parish men's group - the more the merrier. Please make sure they have all purchased tickets.

Will food be provided?

The Catholic Shrine has a tea room with a light lunch menu, and there are a couple of cafes and pubs in Walsingham village. Otherwise, bring a packed lunch and a flask of something hot!

Is there parking?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is a large car park at the Shrine, although it quickly gets full before the midday Mass. If you are coming on the procession along the Pilgrim Way, you will need to walk back to the Shrine (or get a lift) in order to collect your car. The walk isn't much longer than 20 minutes.

What is the purpose of a national Catholic men's pilgrimage?

Firstly, it's a reminder that life is a pilgrimage, wherein men have a responsibility to lead their families to heaven; secondly, to remind us of our filial and fraternal natures in our devotion to the Mother of God; thirdly, to remind us of the duties of piety and patrimony towards our forefathers.
