About the adult courses at Phoenix Art SpacePhoenix Art Space provides a mix of high quality courses aimed at practicing or aspiring artists and art lovers. They are suitable for anyone (including beginners unless otherwise stated) who wants to learn new skills from professional artists and would like to meet like minded people in a supportive and creative environment. We usually provide all the basic materials unless stated in the course descriptions. We recommend booking your place early as some popular courses fill up very quickly.All courses are aimed at adults (over 18 years) unless otherwise stated. Course fees are kept as low as possible to encourage everyone to participate in the arts, therefore we do not offer concessionary rates  on any tickets. We are unable to offer discounted rates for other reasons, for instance if you are unable to attend all the sessions, unless the course has already started and has unfilled spaces.We accept payments online by credit or debit card and PayPal. Offline payment options are only available when booking a ticket in person at the Phoenix Art Space front desk during gallery opening hours.We regret we are unable to provide car or bicycle parking facilities (except for students with disabilities).If you have any additional needs please let us know and we will endeavour to accommodate them. We have disabled access on the ground floor where the courses are held, including a ramp and toilet facilities. Learn a simple etching technique and use a printing press to create your own prints.

Drypoint etching is a simple intaglio print technique in which you scratch your design onto a surface and then print it onto dampened paper using a press. We will make designs on clear plastic and on recycled cartons. We print with black and coloured inks and also add colour with tissue paper, a technique called chine collé.Suitable for all levels including artists and complete beginners. No experience necessary.All materials provided but students are encouraged to bring their own images to work from, such as drawings or photographs. She has an MA in museum and gallery education from the Institute of Education, London. She learned printmaking at a private college in Treviso, Italy and at Kensington and Chelsea Institute in London. Rachel works with wide range of techniques and materials. She makes paintings and sculptures, site-specific installations and performances. Recent projects include residencies in Ireland, Spain, Brazil, Portugal and Denmark, solo exhibitions at Regency Town House and Newhaven Fort and group shows in Brighton, London and Eastbourne.
