2025 East Sussex Carers Voices Conference - Celebrating Carers Week

There are a range of ways to get involved and share your voice on issues and topics affecting carers.  Here you will find booking information for our  'Carers Voices' events.As part of our Carer Friendly initiative we  offer a programme of free Think Carer Training. Sessions can be booked here and available across the county both in person and online.Think Carer training is suitable for paid staff and volunteers in public sector, charities, community groups and businesses who are in contact with carers.

Care for the Carers

The biggest East Sussex listening event - bringing together carers and decision makers. Speakers, workshops, marketplace and delicious food.

Kings Centre

<blockquote>We offer flexible arrival time, and workshops and marketplace options at the end of the day, so that you can leave at the time convenient for you.</blockquote> During Carers Week we celebrate the voices and experiences of local carers. Creating space for sharing and listening between carers and decision makers in East Sussex. We are inviting you to enjoy a day, where you will have the opportunity to hear from national and local speakers, visit the marketplace to see what’s available for carers, discuss issues that matter to you with the decision makers who can make a difference, and network with other carers and service providers. And let’s not forget plenty of tea and coffee and a delicious lunch served by the Kings Centre and their catering team.This year's focus: How health (including mental health services) and social care can work better for carers.Speakers:<ul><li>Local carers: Agi Angiolini and Oliver Davis</li><li>Mark Stainton, ESCC, Director of Adult Social Care</li><li>Ashley Scarff, NHS Sussex, Deputy Executive Managing Director East Sussex and Brighton &amp; Hove</li><li>John Child, NHS Foundation Trust, Chief Operating Officer</li><li>Jennifer Twist, CEO of Care for the Carers</li><li>David Brindle, social policy journalist and former public services editor of The Guardian</li></ul>Chaired by: dr Neil ChurchillThe afternoon workshops (delivered by Care for the Carers and partner organisations) will focus on information and discussions for:<ul><li>Carers supporting cared for in hospital</li><li>Carers supporting people with dementia</li><li>Parent carers of neurodivergent children</li><li>Older people’s mental health needs assessment </li><li>Carers Money Matter </li></ul>and creativity and relaxation:<ul><li>Creative wellbeing for carers. Finding time and ways to ‘be you’. </li><li>Hand massage </li></ul>You will be able to choose your preferred workshop on your arrival, when you sign in for the event.We are back at Kings Centre, in Eastbourne (Hampden Park) with easy parking and access by public transport!Travel expenses will be reimbursed for carers (please keep your ticket or know your car journey mileage).
