Katie is a 31-year-old, multi-award-winning, disabled entrepreneur, educator, speaker, trauma-informed practitioner, coach, mentor and global mental health trainer. Katie has 14 years lived/living experience with mental illness, with eclectic passions including supporting other’s mental health, inclusive entrepreneurship, female leadership, community development, growth mindset development and supporting young people.Katie has founded four businesses: Excel in Education Tutoring School, The Mind Tribe UK, Odence and Bloombug and two voluntary organisations: Young Entrepreneur's Network Northern Ireland and FYLA Global (Female Youth Leadership Academy). Katie holds additional roles as an Independent Member of the ABC Area Policing Community Safety Partnership, and as the Northern Ireland National Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Network.She was a regional judge and Chair for The Diana Award 2020 & 2021, and was named NI Young Business Person of the Year, at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards, in both 2021 and 2022. She was also named Northern Ireland Young Leader of the Year 2022.Katie is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Inclusive Entrepreneurship, was listed on Belfast Telegraph’s NI 30 Under 30 list 2022, the Diverse In’s “130 Women Who Break the Bias” List 2022, and the f:entrepreneur UK Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs list 2022.

Virtual consultation session for Integration Support Organisations working with Newcomer Communities (Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants)

Group, virtual consultation session for Community Groups, Social Integration Services and Support Organisations, that work with Newcomer Communities, including Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants.This event is part of a Research &amp; Consultation Project to explore entrepreneurial support pathways for newcomer communities to the Belfast City Council Area. Newcomer communities include Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants.WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------This consultation session will be a facilitated, small group discussion to capture suggestions, opinions, lived experiece perspectives and thoughts/ideas for future specialised entrepreneurial support provision for Newcomer Communities in the Belfast City Council Area.These consultation sessions will take place in English. However, Translators/Interpreters can be provided if required - please state this when registering for your ticket.All virtual sessions will be recorded and will take place via zoom.These sessions are open to all individuals and organisations within NI's Integration Support Ecosystem including Community Groups, Social Integration Services and Support Organisations--------------------------------------------------------------------------------This session will be facilitated by Katie Matthews-Furphy, Founder of The Mind Tribe UK. Katie has 15 years lived/living experience with mental illness, 7 years lived experience with multiple chronic health conditions and an invisible disability, and fosters eclectic passions including supporting other’s mental health, inclusive entrepreneurship, female leadership, community development, growth mindset development and supporting young people.Katie established her first business aged 23 after graduating from Queen’s University Belfast and has since founded four businesses and two voluntary organisations. She is the founder of The Mind Tribe UK and has recently launched The Inclusify Project.She spent 4 years as an Independent Member of the ABC Area Policing Community Safety Partnership, 3 years as the Northern Ireland National Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Network UK, was a regional Judge and Chair for The Diana Award 2020 &amp; 2021, a Judge for the National Start-Up Awards 2023, 2024 &amp; 2025, Chair of Pure Mental NI and was the UK Director for Global Entrepreneurship Week UK 2022.Katie is currently an Advisory Board Member of the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Disability, a founding member of Inclusive Entrepreneurship NI and is the delivery partner for Belfast City Council’s Inclusive Enterprise Pathway, Northern Ireland's first council-led pathway dedicated to Inclusive Enterprise.She was honoured to be listed on Belfast Telegraph’s NI 30 Under 30 List 2022, the Diverse In’s “130 Women who Break the Bias” List 2022, and the f:entrepreneur UK Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs List 2022.Further accolades include winning NI Young Business Person of the Year in both 2021 and 2022 at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards, NI Young Leader of the Year in 2022 at the NI Young Leaders Awards and NI Young Achiever of the Year in 2023 at the NI Women’s Awards.
