The talk is about Tony's experience and knowledge of macro photography as well as his philosophy and approach to photography as an art.

The talk is about Tony&#x27;s experience and knowledge of macro photography as well as his philosophy and approach to photography as an art. As part of his talk, he will show lots of his best macro images, but the talk is about far more than a set of pretty pictures.The topics covered are:<ol><li>A brief introduction to Tony, his background and experience, and why he chose to focus on macro</li><li>The distinction between story and beauty in art as well as in nature photography (i.e. narrative vs. pictorial qualities of images).</li><li>Tony&#x27;s interest in competitive photography - the various types of contests suitable for macro, and some of his successful images (see the AWARDS page on his website for examples).</li><li>How to create beautiful macro photos. This is the main substance of the talk, and it covers 7 challenges in macro and how to overcome them.</li></ol>As Tony sees it, these challenges are:<ul><li>Finding and getting close to the subject</li><li>Depth of field</li><li>Camera movement</li><li>Subject movement</li><li>Shutter speed/light</li><li>Composition/bokeh</li><li>Post processing</li></ul>This talk will be held via Zoom as part of KCC Photo Group’s special 2020-21 season.
