Being an Ally is using your privilege to stand up for others when they are marginalised or mistreated, when it is safe and effective to do so. Getting there takes practice and careful thought. Run by qualified trainers from community org Open Life Science

An ally is a member of a social group that enjoys some societal advantages. They work to understand their own privilege and take conscious actions to step up for others, when it is safe for them to do so.The <a href="https://we-are-ols.org/" title="https://we-are-ols.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">OLS</a> team members have been trained under <a href="https://frameshiftconsulting.com/" title="https://frameshiftconsulting.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Frameshift Consulting</a> and have previously conducted ally workshops at European Molecular Biology Laboratory, The Whitaker Lab at the Alan Turing Institute, <a href="https://2020.carpentrycon.org/schedule/#session-46" title="https://2020.carpentrycon.org/schedule/#session-46" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CarpentryCon @ Home</a> and as part of the Open Life Science cohort, training hundreds of trainees.--We may be able to offer low-cost tickets and fee waivers for members interested in participating at this event who would otherwise not be able to attend.Please contact team@we-are-ols.org to request a fee waiver, or if you have any questions about the event.
