How we estimate the population based on the Census and Census Coverage Survey, then create household information to match these estimates. 

It is now less than five months until the Census in England and Wales takes place on 21 March 2021. It is essential that we get it right and that the whole population has the chance to provide the information that can help to ensure their communities are well served. The Census aims to capture the entire population, but even with a variety of strategies to maximise response it is inevitable that some people will not be counted. Therefore, we will deploy statistical methodologies, as in the last census, to deal with unavoidable undercounts in specific groups or areas. 
This session will explain how we will make statistical adjustments to all census outputs to account for estimated non-response using information from a follow-up census coverage survey. We will explain how the statistics represent our best estimate of the whole population and its characteristics, not just those who responded. We will provide an overview of the estimation and adjustment processes that together will create the census database that allows us to produce these outputs.
