The King's Festival of Artificial Intelligence is returning between Tuesday 21 & Saturday 25 May 2024, with a series of public events, including lectures, workshops and demonstrations, exploring artificial intelligence with researchers from across King's.

The King’s Festival of Artificial Intelligence is hosting a Family Day on Saturday 24 May. Join us at King’s College London for a free, family-friendly exploration of AI, with activities suitable for children aged 7 and over. The day has three entry slots for guests: 11am, 12.30pm, 14.00pm. But they are only as smart as the data they are trained on- can you match the image to the text prompt which generated them?One World Turing TestThe Turing Test is a method designed to test how intelligent AI systems are, testing if a human can work out if they are talking to an AI and not a real human. Recently researchers have suggested a simplification of this test, allowing just one word to prove you are a human and not a machine. Using the mobile phone app Downpour we will make a simple story game in just an hour by taking photos and connecting them together.This activity is recommended for ages 10+. Younger game designers will need an adult to be co-designer.<h4>MENACE: Teaching a Pile of Matchboxes to Play Noughts and Crosses </h4>Delivered by <a href="https://www.mscroggs.co.uk/" title="https://www.mscroggs.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matthew Scroggs</a>. MENACE is a computer built in the 1960s from 304 matchboxes, built to demonstrate how machine learning works. We’ll be spending the day playing games of noughts and crosses against a copy of MENACE that Matthew has built and seeing if it can learn to play better as the day goes on.
