Australia 1789, a ramshackle colony of recently transported convicts and their gaolers attempt to scratch a living on the other side of the world from everything they know. Timberlake Wertenbaker’s most well-known play, Our Country’s Good is a funny, moving, heartfelt plea for the redemptive power of theatre and the arts in the face of almost unimaginable brutality. As the convicts embark on a tentative production of their first play, they slowly recover their humanity in the face of the deprivation and injustice they have suffered.Directed by Gill FosterIMPORTANT NOTES:There is a strict no late-comers policy. There is no admission after the show starts.Tickets must be booked in advance and will not be available on the door.
