Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) is a charity and international community of mindfulness educators united in our commitment to the wellbeing of the next generation, as well as the adults caring for them.

Hear Esther Ghey and Emma Mills on introducing mindfulness to Warrington schools.

<h3>Join us online on 12 June 2025 7pm -8pm (UK time) for a live conversation followed by a Q&A with Esther and Emma.</h3> <h3>What to expect?</h3>As part of our MiSP Speaker Series for 2024/25 Esther Ghey, founder of Peace &amp; Mind UK and Emma Mills, Headteacher of Birchwood Community High School will be talking about introducing mindfulness to Warrington schools, discussing the development of a sustainable approach and sharing the experiences of staff and students. They will outline their vision for growing a community of mindfulness teachers in Warrington, including ideas for how best to support individual teachers in schools and creating a forum for sharing ideas and best practice. They will discuss following the MiSP Pathways framework and how the training so far forms the foundations for a self-sustaining model for One Community Trust.There will also be an opportunity for Esther and Emma to answer questions. We will try to ask as many of these as possible during the session.The session is set to provide thought provoking and inspiring reflections from two key contributors to field. It will be a chance to come together as a (global) community, including warmly welcoming any familiar and newer faces!<h3> </h3><h3>Who is invited?</h3>The webinar is open to ALL so please do invite colleagues and friends. <h3>About the Speakers</h3>Esther GheyEsther is a campaigner for social media reform and is the founder of Peace &amp; Mind UK, a service dedicated to improving mental health for young people and their families through the promotion of mindfulness in schools.Esther has since appeared on Newsnight, taken her campaign to the House of Commons and become an ambassador for the Mindfulness in Schools Project. She is now at the centre of the debate around banning phones in schools and driving better online safety for children and young people.Esther was named the Independent’s Most Influential Woman of 2024, leading a cast of fifty politicians, campaigners, businesswomen, athletes and celebrities who have all played a prominent part in British life, as well as being listed among GQ’s Heroes of 2024. Emma MillsEmma Mills is currently in her 6th year as Headteacher at Birchwood Community High School and has dedicated her career to education since 2002. Throughout her career, Emma has served diverse communities across Manchester and Warrington, making a significant impact on students and schools alike.As a Specialist Leader of Education whilst working in Manchester, Emma built a reputation for her leadership in schools. She has completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and holds a Master’s degree (MA) in Educational Leadership. Emma is also currently completing her National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) and serves as the Director of Education for One Community Trust, alongside her headteacher role. Over the last decade, Emma has shared her expertise at conferences across the North West and nationally, addressing a wide range of educational issues.Emma is a Director of Peace &amp; Mind UK and is also leading One Community Trust’s intention of becoming the first MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) Beacon Multi Academy Trust. Emma is passionate about mindfulness and has worked closely with Esther to bring mindfulness training to all schools in Warrington.In addition to her work in education, Emma launched the Disconnect 2 Reconnect campaign last year to raise awareness about the dangers of social media and mobile phone use. She works closely with schools and families in Warrington to promote a safer digital environment for young people. Emma is also collaborating with Warrington Borough Council to roll out an initiative aimed at protecting children online as part of her campaigning.Emma is deeply committed to promoting mental wellbeing for all and continues to advocate for initiatives that support the mental health and development of young people, educators, and communities.
