The English-Speaking Union is delighted to invite members, alumni and their guests to attend this year’s Evelyn Wrench Lecture and Dinner with guest of honour Field Marshal The Lord Richards of Herstmonceux GCB CBE DSO DL.The evening will begin with a drinks reception, followed by our annual lecture a three-course dinner will follow the lecture.Sir Evelyn Wrench founded the ESU in 1918. In his memory, this annual lecture welcomes distinguished speakers to reflect on the ESU’s founding principles of international friendship, dialogue and understanding in the English language, and the charity’s work to develop young people’s oracy skills.We will also be announcing the winners of our ESU-Rutland Teacher Award and our Oracy Culture Award, celebrating those teachers and schools working hard to make speaking and listening skills a priority.Dress code: black tieMission Statement:The <a href="https://www.esu.org/our-mission/" title="https://www.esu.org/our-mission/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">English-Speaking Union (ESU)</a> is a charitable membership organisation working to give young people the speaking and listening skills and the cross-cultural understanding they need to thrive.
