Fighting for anti-racist workplaces - Stand Up To Racism & TUC conference

Stand Up To Racism campaigns against racism and the far right. We have been organsing mass campaigning against fascist Tommy Robinson and far right UKIP's in the EU election - saying "Keep  Racism out of the elections". We challenge Islamophobia, institutional racism, the scapegoating of immigrants for austerity and the far right whenever they try and organise. Stand Up To Racism organises the annual march against racism coinciding with UN Anti-Racism Day in March in conjunction with the TUC.

Opposing the Racist Hostile Environment: Migrants Welcome2pm to 3pm: Closing PlenaryOrganising for a World Against Racism &amp; Fascism: Building UN Anti Racism Day of Action 20 March 2021Racism and inequality have been at the centre of the COVID-19 crisis.BAME frontline workers and communities have disproportionately suffered during the pandemic.But despite the crisis the Tories have continued with the racist hostile environment.Refugees, migrants and the Muslim community have been scapegoated throughout the crisis while deportation flights continue despite the Windrush scandal.It’s no wonder that in the wake of George Floyd’s death in the US hundreds of thousands were involved in the Black Lives Matter protests in Britain.Whether it’s the disproportionate use of stop and search against black communities or the ongoing disparities on safety, pay and conditions for BAME workers racism is a trade union issue.In the US Trump may have lost but he has inspired the racist and fascist right internationally and they are still trying to grow.In Britain the trade unions have been at the forefront of opposing attempts by the Far Right to re-organise and build support. In these difficult times we need to make a stand against the growth of racism, Islamophobia and antisemitism and any attempt to divide working people.This event organised by Stand Up To Racism &amp; the TUC will look at how we can build the fight against racism and inequality in our workplaces, decolonise our education system and strengthen links between the trade unions and the wider anti-racist movement.
