SCRUM is an artist-led non-profit committed to making theatre more equitable and accessible for the next generation of makers and audiences, by prioritising the conditions for artists to make their best work. We are democratically organised, as a non-hierarchical collective of artists from multiple disciplines. We've transformed an empty commercial space in Hammersmith into a hub for theatre training, production development, and live performances.

SCRUM Studios

Part of SCRUM Theatre's West London Young Creatives programme, a series of workshops and a facilitated networking event, focussing on vital practical skills for 18-30 year olds from West London* interested in or taking their first steps or developing into a career in theatre. Nicola T. Chang is a composer/sound designer for stage and screen. She was a co-winner of the Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund (Audio Design) in 2021, and has received a WhatsOnStage nomination for Best Sound Design, four Off West-End Award nominations in Sound Design and a BroadwayWorldUK nomination in both Sound Design and Musical Direction. She has performed with the Chineke! Orchestra, the Women of the World Orchestra and the London Film Music Orchestra, and at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Shakespeare’s Globe. Her works include the three Olivier-nominated plays: For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy, The Swell and A Playlist for the Revolution. In this workshop you will learn about technical theatre, focussing on sound and music design. You will explore routes into working in a technical theatre career and be guided through responsibilities that backstage crew may hold. You will work with other local, young people interested in backstage careers.
