Heritage Network(formerly Heritage Trust Network) is the UK membership body for not-for-profit organisations that are rescuing, restoring and managing historic buildings, structures and spaces. Our members have delivered successful heritage projects against all odds. We operate throughout the United Kingdom, drawing together and supporting the work of local heritage charities, community organisations and social enterprises.We provide an invaluable platform for members for knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer support and skills development. Our guidance helps groups throughout the lifetime of their project, from startup to managing their restored site.  The Heritage Network also gives this extraordinary grassroots movement a united voice, representing their views to government and funding bodies.

A programme of free training and networking workshops for creative and community organisations operating from historic buildings in West Yorkshire.

We’ll demystify governance structures, clarify leadership responsibilities, and share practical strategies for running more effective, focused meetings. <h3>In this session, you’ll learn how to:</h3>* Strengthen your governance framework* Define and support leadership roles within your team* Foster a clear, positive decision-making culture* Make your work more structured, efficient, and inclusive* Implement best practices and essential policies <h3>Who is it for?</h3>This practical online workshop is tailored for community and grassroots groups across the districts of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority—specifically those who use, manage, or care for historic buildings as part of their work.This workshop is ideal for local heritage organisations, community-led heritage projects, and volunteer-led groups looking to improve their internal leadership and governance.Whether you’re based in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, or Wakefield, this session is designed to support your organisation in becoming more confident, well-structured, and resilient.If you're part of a community group, charity, or volunteer-led organisation working with a historic building—whether as a venue, project base, or cultural asset—this workshop will help you strengthen your internal leadership and governance.Join us and leave with the tools and knowledge to lead your organisation with confidence, clarity, and purpose. <h3>Heritage Toolbox</h3>Heritage Toolbox is a pilot programme that has been commissioned by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and will be delivered by Heritage Network and Locality. It is part of the £2.3 million You Can Make It Here programme. There are high numbers of Locality members based across all parts of Yorkshire. A significant number of Locality members run community hubs often with heritage value but not necessarily listed. <h3>Speaker Bio - Nabillah Ismail</h3>Nabillah is qualified Youth Work and Community Development practitioner with over fifteen years of experience in supporting individuals, grassroots groups, and larger organisations in the Voluntary and Community Sector to grow and thrive.Specialising in asset-based community development, she brings a collaborative and flexible approach that builds confidence and long-term resilience. Her work focuses on helping organisations achieve their potential by strengthening governance, leadership, and income generation.Over the past seven years, Nabillah has supported more than 200 small and medium-sized VCS organisations to build capacity, demonstrate impact, and develop sustainable ways of working. Her tailored support is grounded in practical experience and an understanding of sector challenges.Most recently, she delivered the Sport England Together Fund programme for Locality, providing funding and hands-on support to grassroots organisations led by minoritised communities in Birmingham.
