For the 3rd year running, Park Royal Design District is taking part in London Craft Week from 17-18 May 2025, with a 2-day festival of Making and Craft in all its forms.

The Art of Drag is a life drawing workshop celebrating the creativity, performance, and gender play at the heart of drag culture. Featuring drag artists as life models, the session invites participants to explore expressive poses, bold costuming, and character-driven aesthetics through drawing. Open to all skill levels, the workshop blends traditional life drawing techniques with the theatrical flair of drag, encouraging playful experimentation and new approaches to figure drawing. The session offers a space to reflect on identity, presentation, and performance, challenging conventional notions of beauty and body in a fun, inclusive, and affirming environment. Matt David is a queer multidisciplinary artist and workshop facilitator whose practice explores themes of identity, sexuality, and representation through fine art, cyanotype, and mixed media. A core part of Matt’s facilitation work centres around Kings for Life (Drawing)—a life drawing workshop series featuring drag kings and gender-diverse performers as life models. These sessions challenge traditional approaches to life drawing, creating playful, affirming, and inclusive spaces that celebrate queer bodies and performance. With a background in illustration and years of experience leading community-focused workshops, Matt’s approach is both accessible and intentional—centring storytelling, creative freedom, and queer joy.
