Manifesto to Practice: Cultivating ethical relationships with local communities - Breakout session  led by Maya Sharma and Lianne Smith

This event will take place in the Christie Room The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre and Education Trust is a key point of connection between local communities and the University. In this session we’ll share examples of how we work ethically with local Global Majority communities, and showcase our "<a title="chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https:/www.racearchive.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Working-Ethically-with-Black-Histories-A-Manifesto.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Working Ethically with Black Histories: A Manifesto</a>". Through the Manifesto, we’ll invite colleagues to think about how it might inform their thinking and their work, and think about the relationship of the Library to local communities. Although the session focus is on Global Majority communities and Black histories, there will be room to think about other communities.The session will be participatory and allow colleagues to ask questions, share thinking and ideas in a positive space. It is aimed at colleagues from all roles in the Library, not only those working with our Special Collections. The session will be led by Lianne Smith (RACE Centre Archivist) and Maya Sharma (Head of RACE Centre and Education Trust).
