Intergenerational Creative Workshops

We are inviting women of all ages to explore their feelings surrounding ageing and beauty standards by embellishing preloved swimming costumes. This project replicates an original art project ‘Instructions Not Included’ by artist Amanda Hall.

Workshop 4 of 4 - Final Workshop Before the ExhibitionPlease note: This workshop is part of a series. Each session will explore a different theme related to ageing and beauty standards. We encourage participants to attend all four sessions if possible to get the most from the experience. However, we understand that circumstances vary. You are welcome to join individual sessions and complete your swimming costume at home. Your creation will still be included in the final public exhibition at the Create Centre in August.Workshop Background &amp; SummaryAs part of Bristol Women’s Voice’s Intergenerational Events Series, we have partnered with the charity Alive to deliver a series of bi-weekly, intergenerational creative workshops running throughout June and July. This project replicates an original art project ‘Instructions Not Included’ conceived and developed by Bristol based artist Amanda Hall - https://www.amandahall43.com‘Instructions Not Included’ is a collaborative arts project which explores how women and feel about ageing, using preloved swimming costumes as a basis for their creations. 64 women from around the UK contributed to the orginal project, sharing thoughtful and moving stories to accompany their works.We have decided to replicate this powerful project, building on its legacy to create a local version that brings women of all ages together to challnege societal norms and patriarchal expectations through creativity and meaningful conversation. The project will culminate in a week-long public exhibition at the Create Centre in August, showcasing the transformed swimsuits and the stories they carry.* Please note that this event is open to individuals who identify as women and non-binary people who feel this event will benefit them What to bringWe have a limited number of swimsuits available so please do bring along your own swimsuit to embellish if you have one spare.We will provide you with materials, but please do bring along any specefic materials you would like to use.Getting There:Easton Community CentreKilburn St, EastonBS5 6AWBy Car<ul><li>Easton Community Centre has a small car park and disabled parking space at the front of the building. The car park is usually full.</li><li>The roads and streets around Easton Community Centre are very narrow and busy, we recommend using public transport, cycling or walking to visit us.</li></ul>By Bus<ul><li>Easton Community Centre is a 3 minute walk away from Whitehall Road, where you can find busses on routes 6 &amp; 7.</li><li>There are many bus routes that pass by Lawrence Hill, or Stapleton Road.
