Join us for a one-day symposium exploring the stories and significance of archives recovered from the 1762 ransacking of the San Agustin Library in Manila.Renowned historian Ambeth Ocampo will deliver the keynote lecture.He will be joined by leading scholars and cultural experts including Regalado Trota José, Carlos Madrid, Christina Lee, and Cristina Juan, who will share insights into the archival texts, their journeys, and their relevance today.The exhibition features digital reconstructions, interpretive displays, and collaborative research that bring these lost materials—and the histories they hold—back into public view.This event marks the culmination of the AHRC-NEH project A Digital Repatriation of a Lost Archive of the Spanish Pacific: The Library of the Convent of San Pablo (Manila, 1762) and launches an accompanying exhibition.Date: June 26, 2025 Venue: San Agustin Museum and Library from 9:30 AM Free and open to the public.
