Is the space accessible?

Rook Lane Chapel is accessible - there is step-free access from the front for wheeled users. There is an accessible toilet in the building. If you need to park, there are disabled parking bays in front of the building, but parking is very limited.

What sewing kit do you have that I can use?

Accepted Answer

We have basic kit including needles of various types, threads, darning wool, scissors, pins, and bits of fabric.

What do `I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

We have lots of things you can use from needles, threads, scissors, patching cloth! - but if you want anything specific - for example, you may want to match the colour of a thread, or darning wool, then please bring it. Millie Moon on Catherine Hill has a great selection of threads and fabrics.

Question 4

How many items of clothing can I bring to mend?

It's best to just bring one item and focus on that. You're welcome to bring a couple of things but be prepared not to finish everything. But you will hopefully have the skills you need to carry on the mend at home!

Do I need to have any skills already?

Accepted Answer

No! The best thing is to come along and learn. Stitching and mending things can be take time, but once you learn how to do some basic things, it can be easy and you learn new skills! People often tell us what a wonderful time they've had.

All the people supporting you are volunteers, and while they are skilled and talented, we cannot take responsibility for your mends and repairs.
