Death Cafe

The Walk Club, Edinburgh and other walking activities take place in North Edinburgh and elsewhere. Covering a wide variety of subjects and themes, the Walk Club is a brand-new Edinburgh walking / wheeling club offering ambulatory meet-ups that focus on local history, art, and urban nature ~ with a twist ~ Each walk will have a theme and celebrate events such as the Festival of Terminalia, the Urban Tree Festival, May Day, and the Autumn Equinox. The walks will be stimulating and the company friendly. Fresh air and gentle exercise are promised, whether you are on wheels or feet, and the Walk Club is open to everyone. Children and dogs are welcome. The aim is to be accessible, inclusive, and flexible.Moving slowly through the urban landscape allows for higher quality noticing and time to pay attention. Pauses are important so we can look, smell, and discover. We will embrace community, as well as silence and conversation.With experience in the arts and community settings, I offer walks (ecological, history and psychogeography, for example) in Edinburgh and elsewhere in Europe. They are participatory, safe and inclusive. I also run workshops in venues such as Edinburgh Central Library and for festivals such as the Festival of Terminalia.

Talking about death over tea and cake - an online Death Café


This Death Café is a group meeting on Zoom where people can come to talk about death. Talking about death is not something that we can all do with our families and friends, and yet it is something which is so often on our minds. At the Death Café, there is an emphasis on listening and sharing, and the focus is that life is finite and we want to talk about that. We all have interests and concerns about bereavement, loss, grief or dying, especially at this time when we are dealing with the Coronavirus.Previous participants described the event as &quot;healthy&quot; and their feelings at the end as &quot;hopeful&quot; and &quot;grateful&quot; . Pre-booking is essential. There are 15 spaces. A zoom invitation will be sent out on the day.Organisers:Tamsin Grainger is a complementary therapy practitioner, session leader, and the author of Death and Loss in Shiatsu Practice (pub Singing Dragon Press). 
Bea Denton is an artist and educator whose practice explores ideas around death and loss, faith and ritual.
