Guided walk to Point Lynas, Anglesey

Friends of Treborth Botanic Garden

A guided walk with Nigel Brown to Point Lynas, north  Anglesey, to see coastal birds, cetaceans and flowers and  interesting geology.

The main aim of the walk will be to view and discuss the identification and ecology of Seabirds such as Gannet, various species of Gull and some late Terns, Shag and Cormorant, Divers, Fulmar, possibly some late Manx Shearwater, various Auks including Black Guillemot. On land, Pipits, Linnet, Goldfinches, Stonechat, Chough, Kestrel, Raven. In addition to the ornithological interest we have a good chance of seeing cetaceans especially Harbour Porpoise. There should still be some maritime heath (Calluna, Erica, Western Gorse) in flower. Wild orpine grows there as well.

Bring waterproofs, several layers of clothing, binoculars, walking boots. We will be walking on some road surfaces and easy paths, with an option of more rugged paths on the headland. Note that Point Lynas is an exposed headland and can be windy. And there will be sea cliffs up to 25m high. Dogs on leads, please.

So, if you find that you cannot come after booking, please cancel your booking, so that your place can go to someone else.This is a donation event (£5 recommended). You will be asked to make your donation when you book your ticket.
