FVS is a charity, a parent care led forum for parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and/ or disability (SEND) in Surrey, from ages 0-25 and inclusive of all conditions. We provide a collective SEND family voice to agencies and providers of services to SEND families in Surrey, on needs and how these can best be planned and delivered, to improve SEND lives.

Share your feedback on Surrey County Council’s (SCC) proposed improvements to the Education, Health and Care needs assessment (EHCNA) process.Over the last few months, we have been working in collaboration with the SCC Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team and parent carers to understand how the EHCNA process can be improved.We have hosted 3 online groups together and have received lots of helpful ideas and suggestions which SCC have used to consider changes and improvements.We would now like to invite all parents and carers of children and young people currently in the EHCNA process, or who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to provide feedback on the SCC SEND team’s suggested changes in response to what they have heard.There are two online groups you can attend:· 10th June 2025, 12.30-2pm: The EHCNA Parent Request Form and guidance for parent carers· 19th June 2025, 12.30-2pm: How we can ensure that children, young people and their parents and carers are involved in decision making, and how we measure if our overall practice is meeting your needsWhat will be involved?· During the groupo At the beginning of the discussion, we will share your previous feedback and how SCC propose to address ito We will then open discussion to capture your feedback on their proposalso We will host the online discussion group together with a representative from SCC’s SEND team and their Participation Lead.· After the groupo SCC’s SEND team would like to share draft versions of the documents related to the topics for your review/input/feedback which may be by email or a follow up discussion group. Please note: taking part in the follow up stage will be really valuable in forming how your feedback is incorporated in the new processes.By getting involved you are helping the SCC SEND team to understand how their suggestions can be improved and representing what parent/carers want from these parts of the EHCP process.
