A tour of the calcareous grassland, woodland, and garden-scale meadows of the Doward.

Lord’s Wood Car Park

A walk through the distinctive calcareous grassland and woodland of the Doward (approx 1 mile) guided by Ian Draycott, who has been recording wildlife and managing habitats there for over a decade. The walk will include a stop at at Herefordshire Wildlife Trust's <a href="https://www.herefordshirewt.org/nature-reserves/woodside" title="https://www.herefordshirewt.org/nature-reserves/woodside" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Woodside Nature Reserve</a>, and Ian and Ruth's wonderfully diverse meadow in minature, to see what can be achieved on a garden scale. Satnav to Lords Wood carpark may work, but reception is poor so see below directions.What3words: ///wins.funded.pheasantsGrid ref: SO 54765 15642Exit the A40 exit following signs to Doward / Crockers Ash, and get onto Well Vale Lane. Then follow signs to The Biblins / Doward. Do not take Sandyway Lane as this is extremely narrow! Instead take the turning near Crockers Ash phonebox, which is signposted Doward / Biblins / Doward Park Campsite.Continue uphill on the winding road, following signs to Biblins / Doward Park Campsite, and turn right when you see the entrance to Doward Park Campsite, follow the track past the campsite entrance down to the Lord's Wood carpark.
