Screening: Trulee Hall Selects II

Inaugurated in 2007, the Zabludowicz Collection’s London project space presents a varied programme of group and solo exhibitions, commissions and residencies, drawing on works from the collection and new works by artists linked to the collection curated by our team. A public programme of performances, talks, screenings and workshops accompanies every show.

Zabludowicz Collection

An online screening of artists' moving image, selected by Trulee Hall.

For the second in the series, Hall offers up an alternative Valentine's Day special; a double feature of unorthodox sexuality and desire, from deep in the past to far in the future. Mary Reid Kelley's Swinburne’s Pasiphae (2014) tells the unlikely story of the mythological Minotaur’s conception. Using an existing poem by Victorian poet Algernon Charles Swinburne, the story stages an interaction between master artisan Daedalus and the Minotaur’s mother, the bewitched Minoan Queen Pasiphae, who is cursed with an insatiable wish to mate with a beautiful bull. Set a million years from now, Mike Kuchar's fantastic Sins of the Fleshapoids (1965) reveals a debased future where humanity has forsaken science for self-indulgence and erotic pleasure. A race of enslaved Androids, undertakes all labour, until a rebellious Robot, tired of pleasuring his masters, decides to join the humans in sin.Mary Reid Kelley & Patrick Kelley, Swinburne’s Pasiphae (2014), 8:58 minutesMike Kuchar, Sins of the Fleshapoids (1965), 48 minutesTotal running time: 57 minutesPlease register your interest via the booking button.
