A guided slow coastal sound walk and a coast inspired snack of samphire salad with cockles.

Meet at: Waterloo Sunset Cafe. L22 8QP Please arrive at least 5 mins early.Food: Samphire and Potato Salad, and Cockles. Please note: We will also be walking in water, so please wear waterproof shoes (or no shoes at all!) if you wish to join. Participation is entirely optional—you’re welcome to dabble in the water or stay dry, whichever you prefer. This workshop invites participants to explore the Liverpool coastline through attentive listening. A guided slow coastal sound walk by Sara Wolff along Crosby Beach; attendees listen and gather ambient and human-made sounds. Participants analyze and translate sound into visual “sound maps” and draw sketches and make listening notes, drawing on food analogies to capture timbre and texture along the way. By the end of the walk, we will discuss the sound we heard and visual maps we made, while enjoying a coast-inspired Samphire salad and cockles dish.Produced by Dongni Liang and Georgina TysonFood by: Heavy DigestationsFacilitated by: Sara Wolff @saraw0lffArtist bio: “Sara Wolﬀ is a composer, songwriter and sound artist who works with media composition, field recordings and live performance. Originally from Norway but now based in Liverpool, she uses field recordings, tape loops, analogue synths and voice to explore nature, people and their interconnection.In 2025 she started her own soundwalk collective, ‘Sound Pals’, a monthly guided listening walk with the goal to explore and connect with the local spaces of Liverpool through listening in a present, curious way.She has spent her time collecting bespoke soundscapes for films, sound libraries and compositions. Sara has composed music for projects such as Theresa Skamletz’ dance choreography ‘A Wet Bit Of Sand’, Cities And Memory ‘Adventure’ project, Olive Pascha’s short film ‘Carrot Cake’ starring Niamh Cusack, created in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology and EMU films, and ‘The Gan-Finn’ by Louis Zillio.’’ Please don't hesitate to email us if you require more information or have accessibility requirements at info@the-royal-standard.co.uk
