Mikka is a Cambridge Meng Chemical Engineering student and the Tech Operations Lead at a technology startup - PERFEXIA where she led the team that developed DocMe®- a smartphone app, which measures health vital signs from a selfie using state-of-the-art deep learning models. Before PERFEXIA, Mikka has worked in management consulting and she was also selected as a Next Generation Women Leader by McKinsey &amp; Company in 2020 for her work empowering female technology leaders.

Abstract:
Owing to the attitude of taking selfies, the first two decades of the twenty-first century has seen a remarkable advancement of smartphone camera technology. Today, more people can take a selfie anytime and anywhere than measure their vital signs such as heart rate or blood pressure- more than 25% of the population has clinically elevated blood pressure, a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
PERFEXIA's DocMe app addresses this problem by democratising access to a medical-grade vital signs measurement tool by people taking a selfie. DocMe brings essential health information in one place and can facilitate a faster, more comprehensive clinical assessment of a patient. In this talk, the presenter will share her experience developing and validating DocMe.
